De Leon High School
Hello!  Welcome to De Leon High School and Perkins Middle School.  My name is Kaye Quinn and I am the secondary counselor for grades six through twelve.  I have been the secondary counselor for 25 years and am starting my 30th year at De Leon ISD.  Prior to counseling, I taught second and third grade at De Leon Elementary.

Away from school, I am the proud parent of two sons and daughters in law, Jeremy and Kristy Quinn and Dusty and Leah Quinn.  But most of all, I am the proud grandparent of Miller, Granger, Makenna, Chandler and Snyder.  Miller is in the 8th grade this year and Granger is a 4th grader.  Makenna and Chandler are starting 1st grade and Snyder is 8 months old.  It has been a change for me to have 2 little girls, but I am finally getting to shop for the frilly items and loving every moment. Ron and I enjoy spending time with the grandkids.

It has been a pleasure to watch these students grow and develop from sixth graders to graduating seniors.  I have had the unique opportunity to watch these students accomplish their goals and move forward to the next phase of their lives. It has been a rewarding career.  The future is with our students and I am proud to have a chance to be a part of their lives.

College Board Opportunity Scholarships

The College Board Opportunity Scholarship program is a $25 million commitment to encourage more students to take the steps necessary to get into     college. This first-of-its-kind national scholarship program lays out six simple steps that all students can take to get college. Each step will earn a chance     for a scholarship; doing all six will earn a chance to win $40,000 for their college education:

  1. Build their college list
  2. Practice for the SAT
  3. Improve their SAT score
  4. Strengthen their college list
  5. Fill out the FAFSA
  6. Apply to college

The six steps highlighted by College Board Opportunity Scholarships help students plan by making a good starter list of schools, prepare so they can     take their best shot at getting in, and pay for college by earning scholarships and applying for financial aid. A video explaining the program is     available here.
