2019 - 2020 Mighty Maroon Band
I thank you for what I feel is one of the best choices you
will make in the upcoming school year, joining the Mighty
Maroon Band. This year we will be 65 members strong.
Together, we will continue to become an elite organization of
the school, community, and the state!
This year our show will be “The Roaring 20’s”. We will
have a lot of wonderful performance opportunities this season
including, parades, football games, marching contests, region
band tryouts, our local Christmas and Spring Concerts, UIL solo
and ensemble competition, and UIL concert and sight-reading
concert. I have attached a schedule of events within this letter.
One side will be the practice schedule and the other side will
be the performance schedule. Some performances are optional
and will be denoted as such.
You will need solid black shoes, with black soles, and
black socks to wear with your uniform. The parade attire will
be black shorts, tennis shoes (any color), and your band t-shirt.
Our first few football games we will wear blue jeans, black
shoes, black socks, and band shirts.
The music that we will play in the parade will be part of
the Gershwin opener, from measure 18 to the end. Gershwin
Opener, And All That Jazz, and Big Noise from Winnetka are the
three selections that will make up our half time show.
Please take this time to sign up for remind 101. This is
how we communicate as band members with information
about performances and times. Please have your parents sign
up so they will receive all messages as well. To sign up text
